News makes you start over on every visit: one story, dozens of headlines. In about ten hours, solo, I built the research engine first, then designed around one question instead of a feed: news that remembers what you're trying to understand and shows only what changed. A working prototype. - Designing the system before the product (Shipped, white-label, password on request): AI sped up the team's output, and its drift. A token and rule system made consistency keep up with a two-week cadence. - [The agent lives in your inbox](https://www.tommydelarosbil.com/work/cedar/): Cedar · 2024–25 · Staff Product Designer · 6 weeks. People job hunting while working full time don't have room for another app. With the CEO and CTO, I put the AI agent in their inbox, gave it a voice with strict rules, and kept a small web app for what email can't do. 81% daily open rate, 5% paid conversion. - We stopped making chat the destination (Shipped, white-label, password on request): Live chat testing showed operators liked the intelligence, not the chat. The team deprecated chat and brought intelligence into the work instead. - [From 20% task success to 80%](https://www.tommydelarosbil.com/work/mastering-revisions/): LANDR · 2021 · Senior Product Designer · ~3 weeks. Pros churned because LANDR's mastering gave them almost no control. After seven interviews with churned Pros, I designed a separate revision tool that asks plain questions, instead of complicating Mastering with technical jargon. One failed test and one extra week later: 80% task success and $147K in incremental revenue. - [The wait became the product](https://www.tommydelarosbil.com/work/waitzine/): LANDR · 2020 · Senior Product Designer · ~2 weeks. 51% of new users left before hearing their first master. Making mastering faster would take months for under 5%, so I redesigned the wait instead: a progress bar built for perception, and a magazine to learn in the meantime. +79% songs mastered and $493K in incremental revenue. - [A new checkout in four weeks, without testing](https://www.tommydelarosbil.com/work/payment-gateway/): Groupe Dynamite · 2024 · Senior Product Designer · 4 weeks. A new payment API in four weeks, no time for user testing, and most leaders expected failure. I refined the design daily with the PM and developers, iterated every screen inside its user flow, and split the release in two to protect conversion. Handed off on time, across two brands. - [The table at 45 degrees](https://www.tommydelarosbil.com/work/beer-table/): William J. Walter · 2017 · Independent consultant · 3 hours. A Quebec City sausage shop wanted to sell more beer. Sitting by the door for two hours, I saw people walk straight to the counter and notice the beer only after paying. I turned one table 45 degrees and moved beer around the space. Beer sales rose 15%. ## Experience - 2025–26 · Compass Digital, Senior Product Designer · AI Insights > CTO Office: Best contribution and impact hidden for confidentiality.
